Leyre Cañizares is a professional photographer specialized in wedding, elopement, engagement and marriage proposal photography.
She’s based in NYC but is originally from Madrid, Spain. She began working as a couple photographer at the age of 19 and has photographed weddings and surprise proposals in different cities around the world such as Miami, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Barcelona, Paris, London, Oxford, Madrid, Boston and Arizona.
Despite having work in different places, New York is her favorite city! She especially likes to photograph weddings and proposals in Central Park. There are many beautiful spots to get married , propose to your partner or just do a couple photoshoot; Bow Bridge, Bethesda Fountain, The Lake, Wagner Cove, Gapstow Bridge, Umpire Rock, Wollman Rink, Cop Cot…
Her passion for photography developed alongside her relationship with Juan, her high school boyfriend. It was with him when she realised the importance of capturing their memories with a camera, thus becoming unforgettable.
Now, they have been together for 10 years. These are them!
HOW DOES LEYRE WORK WHEN YOU HIRE HER TO PHOTOGRAPH YOUR WEDDING OR ENGAGEMENT?
The first step is contact Leyre and let her know which date and what places you have in mind. Also, you will need to choose an engagement/wedding package to book the date with her. They are flexible packs with different duration and number of photos that you will receive in high resolution via email.
If you want to book more than 3/4 hours, just let her know and she will send you a quote.
Leyre will plan with you the best time to do the session or celebrate the wedding depending on the light/location/crowds and will suggest different places in Central Park. She usually works in Central Park so she knows the park perfectly and can guide you throughout the photo session.
During the photoshoot, she will give you tips and help you take natural photos. If you get married in Central Park, she will take natural and spontaneous photos of the couple and the guests discreetly.
If you haven’t been in NYC before and you like some locations but don’t know where they are, don’t worry! Just show her some photos and she will tell you how to get there and give you some tips to organize the photoshoot and get beautiful photos with few people around you.
ARE YOU GOING TO PROPOSE IN CENTRAL PARK?
As with weddings and engagements, Leyre will plan with you the best time to propose and will suggest different locations in the park. These are the surprise proposal packages. Once you have decided the location, she will send you a map to be sure about the specific place where you will meet and propose to your partner. Also, it would be great if you could send her some photos of you and your partner so that Leyre can quickly recognize you both.
On proposal day, she will be there secretly taking photos of the moment and when it’s done, you could take some engagement photos around the area.
Sometimes, some people want to start an usual couple photoshoot and do the marriage proposal in the middle of the session. There are many different ways to propose, that’s why it’s very important to talk about every small detail with the photographer.
About the proposal photos, Leyre usually sends a few edited photos of the proposal moment that night/next morning so you can share them with their family and friends. The rest of the edited photos will be sent about 5-7 days after the proposal day.
